Surface data of the Tautavel cave, January 2004

A 3D scan of the soil and the walls of the Caune de l'Arago cave was performed by a laser-based system. The 3D model is made of 1,090,713 triangles.

On the left, we can see through the entrance of the cave. The "steps" correspond to different parts that were excavated.

On the right, we can imagine that it is the view of a paleontologist that is escavating one of the steps.

These views will be compared to the actual views in-situ when the excavation campaign begins.
